In August of this year, Medimundi will start production of FFP2 and FFP3 respiratory masks – according to a press release by playing card manufacturer ASS Altenburger. Medimundi is a spin-off of Cartamundi and the University of Antwerp. Together with the machine manufacturer Cloostermans and a private investor, Medimundi will develop, manufacture and distribute high-quality respiratory masks. The operational management of the new company will be carried out by Cartamundi, of which ASS Altenburger is also a member. The masks, it is said, “offer the wearer the highest possible protection and are primarily intended for health care workers”. Medimundi will thus be providing a solution for the shortage of high-quality respiratory masks – made entirely in Belgium. Together, the consortium made an initial investment of around 3.5 million euros and plans to continue investing in innovation, international expansion and a broader product portfolio.
